Air Canada's Tail Color - Green Or Blue?

Sun Nov 11, 2001 1:25 am

This has been discussed in the photography forum but it still confuses me. One came up with saying how to capture the dark green background colour of Air Canada's tail.
But I would say it's dark blue and that's what about 99% of the pictures here say. I think it's also blue looking in reality.
Can anybody clear things up?

It is absolutely GREEN. Period. End of story. Take a look at the seats, the flight attendants' uniforms, any promotional material....it's all green. And if you ask me, I see dark green when I look at the tail.

I think looking at photos that have not been taken on a high resolution and reproduced over a computer will sort of mute the colours.

It is definitely GREEN, albeit a very dark green on its tail.

On nearly every occasion I have seen Air Canada aircraft, whether in photos or "the real thing" at various airports, the tails appear to be black in color. However, there was one occasion when I saw an AC CRJ at MSP in bright sun; the tail was actually a very deep--and very attractive--shade of green!

It looks SO blue to me, but at times in very bright light it seemed green, and so I always wondered... I really hope this doesn't mean i'm colourblind, I want to be able to get a pilot's licence!!!
Next flight.... who knows.

I'm colour blind and I was always under the impression that it was dark blue, too. But hold something navy blue up to a photo of an Air Canada tail and there is no doubt whatsoever -- it's dark green!

Here is something that most people don't know. The A320 that used to be painted in the Toronto Raptors colors was actually a very dark green as well. I always thought it was black.
Then I got the chance to work it first when I started with AC. To my surprise, it was a very, very dark green. Every time that fin 206 would come to YYT, I would always make sure I was'nt color blind. It was green.
I miss that scheme!!
