As far as I know from this end, its not opperated by OK....in fact, as far as their site is concerned, they don't even offer flights to MEX...its very unlikely that it would be OK anyway..their long-haul fleet concists of 2 A310s...

No, AM and OK are only codesharing on each others flights. AM puts OK's code on it's daily MEX-CDG route connecting with OK's CDG-Prague service and OK puts AM's code on OK daily Prague-JFK route connecting with AM's daily flights to MEX.

On the news bulletin it states that travel between MEX and Eastern Europe has grown 62%. I wonder why this is the case? Is there business travel between the two points.

Latinplane,

Nope, I don't think eastern europe is a business destination, at leat not an important one. I believe that tourism from Mexico to that part of the world has grown amazingly. It is now very popular to visit Prague, Budapest, etc (have done it myself, and I highly recommend it!) whereas a few years ago nobody even thought of those places. I guess it is the yearn to visit new places, not to mention that they are fairly cheaper than western europe.

Aeromexico and Czech Airlines are in that second rate "Skyteam" alliance (after first rate Star Alliance) with Air France, Delta and everyone's favorite, Korean Airlines. From Mexico City to Prague, you could be flying on one or all....probably excluding Korean on this route...unless you fly via Asia. Check your flight numbers closely or make a few phone calls to find out which airline's equipment you'll actually be on.

Yes Bicostal, that amazing Star Alliance filled with nearly bankrupt/ailing airlines: UAL, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Ansett & Varig. Thank God for Lufthansa.

I'm not here to start a bitch session -- you'd lose --- I am merely pointing out that your criticism is immature at best. Stick with constructive aviation discussions, not senseless babbling.

It would be very nice if OK restart the flight to MEX, they operated them in the early 90's with ILL-62 equipment, but now with only two 310's,is difficult, maybe if they buy new long range equipment.

Is that really true Am777? I had no idea that OK ever operated to Mexico City. Why did they fly there in the first place? I don't think there was too much traffic on the route. When did they exactly fly to Mexico City?

Yes Latinplane they operated the route Prague - Havana -Mexico City in early 90's, I don´t remember exactly maybe 1991 or 1992, was for a short period only 6 months, also an other interesting fact is that Interflug had flights to Mexico City, with the route Berlin - Havana - Mexico City operated with A310's, back in 1999, only for 9 months or so.Why they had this flights no idea.

*applause*

Go Euroschu!

SkyTeam is not "second rate", I compare it up there with Star and oneworld. I don't really recognize "Wings", although I suppose it's an alliance (it's only a 2 member team at the moment).

Interflug definitely did not exist in 1999.

Sorry.
