Will You Ever Fly AA Again?

Tue Nov 13, 2001 11:46 pm

I want to express my condolances to all victims of this accident and their familes first.I know there are a lot of frequent flyers among us in this forum and also alot of aviation lovers. So my question is this. Will this effect your choice of airline for the next travel(For example instead of taking the AA flight in 1 hour ,waiting for another flight of another airline which departs 3 hours later?)

I don't plan to fly anywhere in the immediate future, but certainly, I would not hesitate to use American. I have always received top notch service from them. In fact, I have never been delayed for any reason other than ATC or weather when travelling with AA, so I certainly have no reason to suspect their maintenance.

I will fly AA again! Actually I am scheduled to fly AA to Chicago from LHR in December and I am not about to rebook with another airline!

I would definitely still fly AA, mainly to support it and help it stay in the best financial shape.

Absolutely! You are still more likely to be killed on your drive to the airport. Trying to avoid a crash is a waste of time.

I would happily fly AA again! Statistically they will probably be safer then most other carriers.

No more AA for me for a long time. 2 hijackings and a mechanical crash in just about a two month period is enough for this flyer. I wish AA the best of course. I have always been impressed with the airline when flying with them, but now is a good time to take a hiatus from American. Just my opinion.

Following the reasoning of the nay-sayers on this post, I guess I will only fly Qantas and Southwest from now on, since they are the two major airlines to not have a fatal accident. Maybe I should avoid airlines who equip their wide bodies with GE CF6-80 engines. How ridiculous can one get?

MSYtristar, the hijackings were NOT their fault and no one really knows what happened to the A300 yesterday.
After that crash in the 70's at ORD, no more AADC-10's plummeted out of the sky due to a faulty engine. In fact, I would say that this is the safest time to fly AA because they are more vigilant than they were before the incidents actually happened.

American is the best of the lot of all US carriers with their comfortable seats. I always try and fly them - and will continue to do so.

I will be flying AA four times long-haul in the next two months, and I'll be proud to be supporting them during each and every flight.

Definitly I will support AA again. They are my favourite major-US airline. Their service is great as well as their aircrafts. I love American Airlines and I will fly with them soon again. I wish them the best and I hope that everyone will continue to travel with them. Go AA, we need American in the airl

Yeah. I'm flying with them on Spring Break, and I am not the least bit scared of anything happening.

Definitely flying AA again -- you naysayers need to take a course in statistics!

I will fly on AA if it is on one of their P&W or RR powered aircraft like their 757-200s or Trent 892 powered 777-200ERs.

I'll fly AA whenever I have the chance unless CO is cheaper. Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I'm scheduled to fly a A300 out of JFK to SJU in December, and I am still planning to fly! They'd have to run out of A300s before I stopped flying them.

Of course I am going to fly AA again. Anybody who knows the facts about aviation would not stop flying AA just because of the last three months. I said it before and I will say it again, if my boss right told me right now he needs me on an AA flight in 2 hours, I wouldn't think twice about it.

40,000 people die in car accidents every year in the United States. This figure puts airline safefy into perspective.

Yes, 40000 die in car accidents but people drive cars every day, perhaps a few hours a day. People don't fly as frequently as they drive. So, the statistics need to take this fact into account. You see, if you apply for life insurance and you are a pilot or flight attendant your premium will be higher than a healthy person whose job is not dangerous.

You also pay more life insurance if you are a smoker.
Yes, I actually *do* work for an airline, how about you?

There's no doubt about safety of airline travel and it gets safer every day I can assure you this since the level of pilot training, the technology that the airplane manufacturars use getting better everyday. As some of you among us are,the professionals in this industry are really dedicated people from the lowest ranked to the highest. This is a pyramid built over "safety". I am very glad to see that most people are "united" more than ever novadays and this is a time which it has to be.As far as sept 11, I think AA is choosen by the terrorist because it wears the name "AMERICAN" on it.And yesterday was a huge piece of unluck, faith as some say.As I do respect to everybodies opinion, what I think this past two months doesnt make AA a bad airline.Maybe just an unlucky one.I think people has to give a shoulder to this airline during these bad days because its worthy symbol thats why bad guys target it,so it is worthy symbol that good guys don't let it disappear.
