Will Spotting Ever Be The Same?

Fri Nov 16, 2001 11:02 am

The day of 9-11 made a big impact on airport security. I know there are many spotters who used to go to the airports just to sit by the gate areas to watch planes. So I pose this question... Will spotting in the airports ever be the same? Will you only be alowed in the gate areas if you hold a ticket? -Brett

They only let you in the gate area if you have a ticket. I just stand around the airports and take picutres. I haven't had any problems.

There are some places ( like in Denver) where there's a plance by the road that is right behind a runway. I haven't been to Denver International Airport after the tragic events happened. I really want to go because only after the incident did I ever for the first time in the air got to see a United 747-400. I've only seen the plane 4 times in the days or weeks I can remember. I really want to go, but my bro won't take me. If we do go we have to clean out the car and put everything that would be considered a possible weapon away. Any siggestions???

It will be effected for some time to come, or atleast the airport I go to anyway. It's a shame airports are restricting those that support aviation the most. I refuse to go back to the airport until I know the observation area is back open. As for spotting in the terminals. I don't think that will ever be the same. You will most likely need a ticket from 9/11 on. That's not such a bad idea in my opinion. There are some idiots out there.

Here at Schiphol I think it's ok. All the spottingplaces are open, so to speak.
We just had gettogether with people from A.net, and it was a success.
You can read about in the photography forum.
When in doubt, flat out!
