CO Mike (The Callsign That It Is Commonly Referred To) used to operate 742s, 722s, DC-10-10s, DC-10-30s, and 752s. Now, since the DC-10-30 is not in the CO fleet anymore, they operate a 764 from HNL-GUM. Out of GUM they fly to a number of places.

CO Mike used to operate the DC-10-10 from GUM-NRT, but now the backbone of their fleet is the 738 which they operate to all of their destinations with the exception of the GUM-HNL route on a 764. Hope this helps.

Great answer and followup ILS.

In the late '80s early '90's they used to be called Air Mike.
Then it was partially owned by CO, UA, Aloha and another carrier I can not remember, through Pacific Air Corp.

They used to operate, "JuJu" a 727-100, combi, that had a teflon coated underbelly to prevent the coral unpaved runways on some of the islands from nicking up the aircraft skin. All island runways are paved now.

PNI and ROR are my favorite islands out there. If you ever get a chance you must take the island hopper GUM to HNL it is a trip back in time. The islands are really beautiful (except for Johnston Atoll, just a tar paved spot in the pacific, civilians could not disembark unless special permission granted, they stored nerve gas etc.)

A wonderful company, with wonderful people and fantastic island destinations. Probably the last unspoiled ocean waters in the world? Diving is awsome! The Village Hotel on Pohnepei is the most unique and relaxing experience a human being can have while on land! There are also 16th century ruins of civilization on PNI that are great to see.

Great undiscoverd part of the world. Go Air Mike (CS)

Wasn't JUJU owned by CO but operated by DHL?

Do CoMike have a website anywhere? They used to have stuff on the Continental website about them, but I can't find it anymore, and the site I was suggested from a series of links http://www.flymicronesia.com is evidently some advertising space now...

I think that it used to be a separate company with a separate CEO like CO Express, but now they are part of CO but go by a different call sign. Can anyone clarify?

ILS, you are correct.

I think JuJu came out of the fleet while the "meatball" logo was still in style, late '80's.

The NBC - Today Show, circa (Spring 1989/1990?) did a special one morning, Mat Lauer, when they pulled her (JuJu) out of service, (IATA code CS) - Air Micronesia operated her. As the last remaining island unpaved runway was paved and open.

There is still some shared ownership CO with the FSM, (the Federated States of Micronesia. Use a five star flag for each island member.) AQ may also be a silent partner? If you ever want to see a microcosim of the US Federal System at work go down to these islands. As they have 50 states, Governors, Senate, Hs. of Reps... and all the other branches of US Gov't. It is not hard to run into a FSM Governor or senator down there. Palau (locally known as Belau) was the last US colony to gain its independance 1994/95.

The people are fantastically friendly, and very educated, even the desk clerk at the Palau Pacific will have an MBA from UCLA or something like that. Very cosmopolitan with an island flair.

You have to go, but do not tell anyone, it is a secret.

Bf.

CO Mike still operates a DC-10 from GUM-NRT. All CO DC-10s are gone according to my 10 Nov 01 CO timetable, but it still shows them opb CO Mike.

DeltAirlines, CO hasn't operated the DC-10 GUM-NRT in 2 years. 738 is that route. It is moderately profitable with a 60%-95% pax load on each flight.

CO Mike operated last DC10 flight on Sep30 between NRT-GUM.

CO Mike used to fly KHH, ICN, SYD, NOU from GUM and other cities from Saipan. Saipan was once CO Mike's 2nd hub in Micronesia region.

Terrific Airline!!!!!!!

I have flown "Air Mike" many times and I can honestly that while it was not Singapore Airlines, it was the closest thing to it that I have ever seen. To this day, no matter where I travel, the fruit that they serve is the best to be found, even next to a papaya tree. We travel to Chuuk (Truk) a lot and that island hopper service from HNL is way better than using the HNL-Guam direct service. Whenever I am in Truk I look up and see an Air Mike plane and smile.

Long live Air Mike!!!!!

The name could be changed to Air Kumquat. It will still be forever know as Air Mike though.

BA-747. Asking where Micronesia is reminds meof someone in North America asking where the Channel Islands are. Is the history of WWII not even taught in Britain? I guess I should feel better knowing that US schools aren't the only ones slacking off. Don't mean to sound caustic but how on earth can we understand other cultures, thereby preventing future wars, if our young have no concept of geography?

Sorry all, pet peeve of mine.

Well, the Pacific is a pretty big ocean. That is like saying London is on the Eurasian Continent.

Before there was AirMike, there was "Trust Territory" run by Pan Am. They had two DC-4's and two HU-16's, for places like Pohnpei that didn't have a good runway. We flew to Saipan by way of Rota, an Island which can actually be seen from the north end of Guam. The airport at Saipan was a former B-29 bomber base (in WWII).

Most of the posts are correct. If one was lucky enough to fly the island hopper with the 727 it is indeed a step back in time. Crew meals the best, grilled crab cake sandwiches from Phonipai. Fresh tuna from Kosare

There are rumors that air mic may be sold off to NWA.

JuJu was a - 100, I think #486 or 489. There is a story on why it was named JuJu, but I am not sure if it is true since I didn't fly AirMic.

To Korea, it used to fly 727-200 on GUM-TPE-SEL. Now it became twice-weekly GUM-ICN by 738.

It's fun that by its license by Korean transport authority, it's still 'Air Micronesia'.

Does anyone have any more info about this supposed sale to NW? Are there any other potential buyers? What routes and a/c are supposed to be part of the sale?

Cheers

CO Mike used to fly GUM-TPE-SEL-GUM (Triangle route), as well as GUM-TPE-CJU.

Currently, CO Mike has no flights to Korea.

Well the sale of airmic to nwa is supposed to help CO with a merger with Delta thats what we've been hearing from the pilot group. Here in MSP. NWA used to be big out there. 727 DC-10 747
