I have a question about 737's. So if you know the answer please help! The 737-300 and the 737-500 and even the 737-400 are all very similar jets. They all look the same. My question is Is there any diferences between those 3 aircraft and if so what? Thanks to everyone who responds!

no 737 mg is my favorite except the 500.

if you are near a 500 you know its a 500. its cute being a little smaller than the 300. the sizing is 5,3,4 i think.

Greetings!

Telling the difference between the -300 & -500 is a little tough. The -500 being a little shorter of course. Here's a little tip when looking at Southwest 737's. If you can read the N#, look at the first number. For example if it's N5xxSW, it will be a -500. N3xxSW, it's a -300. This works with the -700 series as well. Keep in mind that not every number will work this way, but it works a lot of the time.

The dead giveaway for telling -400's and -800's/900's is two overwing exit doors on each side of the aircraft.

Hope this helps!

Just thought of another Southwest tip:

On Southwest -700 series, the flap jack screw fairings under the wings are painted orange. Where on the -500/-300 series, they are not.

Thanks boeing nut for the help. Continental and United both fly in 737-300's and 737-500's @ PIT, and USAirways also flies in 737-300's and 737-400's. So next time I go,m I could hopefully at least tell the difference!

I was speaking to a pilot for Continental a month ago and he told me that the engines were different, and the lengths. This won't help, but he said Continental does not put video equpment in their 300's.
