The Fade Of Ansett Australia's B 737s/B 767s?

For now, the Lew and Fox bid does not include Ansett's B 737s and B 767s. All they have is........ A 320s.

So what will happen to these Boeing Aircraft? Will they be stored or will they be sold?

All the best to the new Ansett! I certainly hope that Ansett will resume its former glory in the near future with both widebodies and narrowbodies (That is: A wider range of fleet) and have B 747-400s flying for its International Routes.

B767's probably sold to cargo operators to raise cash for new operations.

B737-300's. Probably the same fate. The leased 733's will probably (certainly?) be returned to lessors.

International ops...you'll be waiting a long time.

A "wider range of fleet" is what put Ansett under. Its cost structures were simply too high, especially with the prices Australian airports charge... There is a good article around by Dick Smith (Entrepreneur and former CASA chair) about the rediculousness of the situation, and the airlines unwillingness to support a reform.

Oh,a nd one more thing, we have said this time and again since the Ansett collapse - they will not be coming back with international services and 747s any time soon, probably never. They lost tons of money on these services, to be honest I don't know why they didn't cut them earlier in the piece, maybe it would have helped out. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it just isn't going to happen.

The B 747s were profitable, if not 'are'........ According to AN Staff. At least in 1998......

AN International operates some competitive routes. For example: HKG-SYD.

If they have the money, I think AN International should build up a more comprehensive network. Since Ansett is famous for its high quality of service, I am sure they will exceptionally well for European and North American Routes.

It is still early to say that Ansett will not resume its former glory. Give it sometime! Maybe Ansett will become a true competitor to Qantas..........  Smile

Sorry there is a typo......... It should be 'AN International "OPERATED" some competitive routes.'

Anymore comments or ideas from you guys regarding Ansett's B 737s/B 767s?

The 762's will be sold along with any 733's that are company owned to raise cash to pay the creditors out.

The leased 733's await to be leased to other operators.

VH-BZI (AWAS B767-33AER) which never managed a revenue flight with Ansett is now operated by AWAS (with a white aircaft/Qantas titles) on behalf of Qantas on a domestic rotation:
