Deutsche BA To Be Sold To Germania

Mon Nov 19, 2001 8:05 pm

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere - I would be stunned if this has been missed.

Apparently BA is in serious negotiation with German charter carrier (recently RPT - see seperate post) Germania to sell its loss-making carrier Deutsche BA.

BA in talks to sell Deutsche BA to German budget airline Germania

British Airways PLC is in talks to sell its German unit Deutsche BA to German budget airline Germania, Focus reported citing Germania chairman Mustafa Muscati.

"We have been in intensive talks with British Airways for some time," Focus cites Muscati as saying.

Details still have to be finalised, but there will be an agreement, "in the foreseeable future," Muscati said.

Germania started the FRA-TXL route, which was the
backbound of Deutsche BA schedule.
May be this will reinforce its presence as a domestic
air carrier.
The question that came to my mind is:
Will the 733s be replaced by 737s ???

One route DBA certainly *don't* operate is FRA-TXL.

Charlie is right: DI did about anything there was to do to get a slot FRA-TXL but they never ever succeeded. Besides: Discussion on this topic is already running hot in another thread (Germania...., 5-star-rating), maybe if you want to move there, too, any opinions on that topic are much appreciated (btw, no it's not my thread)
I know it's only VfB but I like it!
