Air Calin Fleet Expansion Plans?

Thu Nov 22, 2001 11:09 am

I was reading on a website that Air Calin of New Caledonia (French Overseas Territory in the Pacific) has an A320 and two A330-200s on order. I am told by a source close to the company that the A332s are coming from Air France (who don't have them yet - does this mean Air France are leasing them directly to Air Calinw hen they take delivery?). Where are these aircraft coming from? When are they scheduled for entry into service? Will the A310 and 737 be leaving the fleet when these arrive, or are they planning some major expansion?

Its interesting to see that this is the first time the A320 will be opperated by a South Pacific Island airline - the 737 has been much preferred.

I heard 3 A330s.

Basically the plan is the following:

A320 and one A330 to operate current routes throughout the Pacific replacing the A310 and 737-300 currently operating.

Air France will drop flights to Noumea (on route CDG-NRT-NOU and will transfer its passengers at NRT to a SB A330 which will operate up to daily. The A330 is also under consideration for flights to the US West coast.
