American Eagle CRJ Already In Service?

While at DFW on November 10, I saw an American Eagle regional jet, parked at gate A10 I believe, that was NOT an ERJ 135, 140 or 145. It was dark, but I was clearly able to see winglets and the engines were mounted higher than the ERJ and were not of the same design. Have they already begun receiving the CRJ700 and if so, on which routes are they using them?

They have been flying their CRJ-700s for a while now.

I thought I read somewhere that the CRJ's are going to be based out of STL in the beginning. Anyone have firm info??

We have 1 CRJ now tail number N500AE I believe. They are still being used on proving runs and are not supposed to be in service till Jan or Feb. They are going to be used out of DFW from what I heard.

1. The CRJ 700 are still on there proving runs and on demo flights.
2. They haven't even begun trainning of on-line personel on the aircraft. The only people trained or being trained right now are the trainning deptarment people and some IOE people.
3. As far as AMR has said all CRJ's are going to be DFW based (there is only suppose to be 25 of them) and as for STL Eagle isn't being any services to or from there AMR had decided to keep the Contracts with the TWExpress carriers for I think 2-5 years (those being Chataqua, TSA, and Corpartate)

Is it true that on the CRJ-700/900, They Raised the Windows a little bit. Last time I was on a CRJ-100, The windows were so low, I had the biggest neck pain.

I hear only American Airlines pilots will fly these, and not Eagle pilots. Anyone know the truth to this? It seems like I read this in an ALPA publication.

The American Eagle pilots are going to be flying the CRJ's. They went thru all the union crap about this and Eagle pilots ending up being able to fly them.

Canadair/Bombardier have not raised the windows on these models. They have instead lowered the floor. So the wondows are now at a better hight from the floor for passengers. So they have fixed the problem you mention. However, I have not yet been on-board an actual 700 yet.

it is true that the windows are at a better height for the pax on the CRJ 700 and -900s.
it´s interesting that Bombardier has contacted some of its CRJ customers about an interest in the so-called CRJ 500, which would be of the same length like the CRJ 100 and -200, but would incorporate the CRJ 700/900´s wing thus provide more range.
in addition, it would also have the lowered floor.
however, Lufthansa CityLine, which is among Bombardiers prime CRJ customers is not interested at all in the so-called CRJ 500, which is still only on the drawing-boards.
