Boeing Blended Wing Body Plane?

The current thread about the 380 remided me that, before the SC, Boeing talked briefly about a BWB plane as long as a 744 and capable of holding up to 800 pax, I think with a range of about 7,000 nm. It looked like a mammoth B2 bomber. I have also seen sketches of similar Airbus proposals that were posted on this site.
So, where are they now, especially the Boeing proposal? Still too far off? Does anyone think the A380 will be the last tube and wing plane built?

I think that BWB designs will undoubtedly be where the future of commercial aviation lies. However we aren't in the future yet - the tube and wing design still has some life left in it. In that respect, I doubt the A380 will be the last such aircraft we see, though it may be part of the last generation of such aircraft.

Back before Boeing bought MDC, MDC and NASA had done quite a bit of research into this aircraft, and I believe had even a flying model with a wingspan on the order of 20ft...too bad that project was put on hold (along with the HSCT, MD-11X, MD-12, and all the other airliner ideas MDC was working on).

I vaguely remember something about marketing research prompting Boeing to go back to the drawing board. Apparently, the BWB was proposed to have no windows in the passenger compartment. And the prospective passengers weren´t too wild about flying "blind" with 799 other people in a huge closed box (viewscreens or not)...

I guess it´s also a bit more difficult from a manufacturing point of view (more unique parts) and building a pressurized fuselage is much simpler when it´s round.
