Anywhere To Get Prices For SIA In Dec 02 / Jan 03?

Sat Nov 24, 2001 7:45 am

I need to fly Singapore Airlines from LHR - SIN - SGN in mid-December to mid-January in 2002 / 2003. Is there anywhere online that I can check prices?

Expedia and sia.com.sg and singaporeair.co.uk have been fruitless.

Thanks.

Singapore_Air - gee, if you can't find SQ fares, why would anyone else be able to  Smile

More seriously, the reason why you're having trouble is that generally airline reservation systems only accept bookings one year in advance - most fares are only released one year in advace at the earliest.

Just be patient  Smile

Yeah Singapore_Air, it would be fruitless to try get any prices more than a year in advance because they change every 3 months I think. Bookings are only accepted 1 year in advance, while the actual price is only confirmed about 3 months in advance. For example, I'm going to Christchurch next month and the final price was only confirmed in late September.

Also, lots of things can happen in a span of one year that may change ticket prices. For example, the November-December period's the Singapore school holidays and thus SIA increases its fares to popular holiday destinations by a few hundred dollars. When I went to New York last year, it was S$1600 (US$888, 627 pounds). However, this year, with flights being so empty, it's only S$888 to get to anywhere in Europe or USA. (US$493, 348 pounds) Northwest is only charging S$599 to anywhere in the USA. I wonder if that's below cost.

Hope this helps.

Singapore_Air,

Airfares are usually released 3 months in advance and anything beyond that will be Full Published Fare so therefore, I would recommend that you wait closer to your departure date for "Specials".

You might find that airlines such as Thai International would have a cheaper option to Saigon but since you are a SQ fan, I understand your preference.

I hope to welcome you onboard one of my flights soon. I do alot of flying between Singapore and London so chances of having me is very high. Please let me know when you are travelling so we can arrange something special to our SQ fan for the trip.

As we say at SQ, Welcome Aboard and Have an Enjoyable Trip!

Thanks all. My parents are intrigued as to why Singapore Airlines are the only airline that have apparently got free seats at the moment in the period stated above and why we always fly with them to SGN. Hahaha
