This was summer 1982 as I recall. It was a 727-200, N4747, ex-National. A thunderstorm cell had passed over the airport and the aircraft elected to proceed with a takeoff, and was caught in a severe (wind shear) downdraft, crashing in a suburban neighborhood shortly after becoming airborne.

Clipper flight 759 was flying from MIA to SAN w/ stops in MSY and LAS. Just after T.O. from MSY the ex-National 727-235 only got several hundred feet into it's climb before crashing into the neighborhood of Kenner. A severe microburst is credited for downing PA759. The flight crew were exNational so one would think that they had plenty of experience flying in the Southeast during the volatile summer thunderstorm season.

PA 759 shows a downside of living near an airport to watch airplanes take off and land.
