Yes MAN double daily has been deferred last minute.
Instead the B773 (in a high density config) will be operating. The 2 class Emirates B773s seat 434 pax so should provide a significant capacity upgrade from the current A330s which seat 285.
The double daily was partly delayed because SYD won't be upgraded to a daily at least for the 1st half of 2002. Once SYD goes daily then it will become more necessary to have the 2nd MAN daily esp. from a connections perspective. The 2nd MAN daily would have a lunchtime/early afternoon departure from DXB arriving MAN in the evening. The return would depart MAN at night arriving DXB next morning providing speedy connex with SYD and other routes eg. intra gulf, KHI, MNL, NBO, DAR, EBB. Currently MAN pax who wish to travel to these destination face a 6-8hr layover.
A B777-200 (high density) is slated to operate on 14th Dec to BHX.
