13 Pallet 747 Combi

Fri Nov 30, 2001 4:10 am

I know that in the past, Atailia (sp?) operated a 747 combi that carried 13 pallets over the usual 7 pallet configuration. Anyone know if this configuration is still in use by Atailia or any other airline?

Thanks

KLM also used to use that config in the Winter on
some of their combis. They may still be using it
now in light of smaller pax loads in the world.
You had the equivalent of a DC8F along with 200
pax when it runs in 13P config. Definitely a way
to maintain your flight schedule during low season....

I flew on that Alitalia 13 pallet 747 combi SIN-SYD many, many years ago. Totally empty flight, but it was weird stepping onboard a 747 and only having 3 zones on the main deck!

Hey, thanks for the info guys. Seems like these aircraft are the money makers now.
