Your First And Last TWA Flight?

Sat Dec 01, 2001 6:45 am

My First

Summer 1985 JFK-SFO on an L10-11

My Last

March 1998 LAX-JFK on a 757

I wanted to fly them again after that, but destinations kept getting fewer and fewer. so I'll have to redeem my frequent flier miles on AA instead.

My first

June 21 2001 ORD-STL
MD-80
Last
June 24th 2001 STL-ORD
Boeing 717

When I was in St Louis I took some pictures of the planes before they got painted into the AA/TWA scheme.

I flew on twa in July 2000 on a roundtrip from SJU to MCO. They were a truly good airline, on the first segment we were upgraded to first . They will be missed.

My first TW flight was DTW-STL on a D95, then STL-HNL on a 747.

Last was HNL-STL on 742 and STL-DTW on a D9S.

I can't remeber my first flight on TWA. I was probably 5 years old. My last flight on TWA was 0GG-STL-PIT Jan 16, 2001. Despite the fact that American had just announced that it planned to acquire TWA, the service was outstanding. I'm going to miss them.

I can't remember my first flight on TWA very well since I was only 6 but my mom told me how TWA's Lisbon flight was overbooked so we were sent to MAD on TAP and spent a night in a hotel and then took the next day's flight to LIS.

MAD-JFK on a 747

Last Flight, although I was supposed to fly with them on my return to JFK in December, I've been rebooked on American Airlines.

First were also my first 2 flights. August 1968 PIT-ORD on a 727-231 and ORD TUS on a 707-131.

My last was November 11, 1991. JFK-PHX on an L-1011 with a change to a 727-231 PHX-TUS.

First - and last - TWA flight was a 'lucky bump' for me. My AA (or was it United) Des Moines - O'Hare service was cancelled and it looked dangerously close to me not getting to PHL the same evening. Then I was bumped to the TWA service to STL which paused there for an hour before heading straight to PHL. Very glad it happened; half-empty plane, impeccable service, comfortable seats. Believe it was a 717 - extremely new, but I was far too tired to notice for sure what flew me home.

My first TW flight was June 1979 LAX-LHR while enroute to JED (LHR-JED on BA).

The following summer my family and I did the SQ/TW Round-the-World offer. I remember it was the first RTW between two carriers. The routing went like this: BAH-BKK-SIN-HKG-TPE-HNL-LAX-STL-MIA-JFK-LHR-BAH.

Wasn't 'til Nov 2000 that I would've taken TW for the last time: JFK-LAX.

TWA you'll be missed.

My first plane ride ever was on a TWA 727 back in 1989. Don't remember when the last one was. But I will be at CMH tomorrow night to see the water canon salute to the last TWA flight out of CMH. Sad to see it go.........

My first TWA flight:
Christmas of 1982: L-1011 PHL-LAX

Last TWA Flight:
TW 658, STL-JAX, 24 November 2001

I shall miss TWA. TWA has been our airline of choice as my dad has been elite frequent flyer with them since about 1987. I will remember the free First Class tickets to Europe, my spotting trips on TWA, my first mileage runs on TWA, and the wonderful L-1011's...

Another quirk about TWA.... line up the flight attendants from any given flight and no two uniforms match... just something that gives the airline character.

My first flight ever was with Trans World Airlines. I was only two years old, so I don't remember any of the trip. All I know is that is was from Columbus, to New York JFK, and then on to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Anyone have any idea what aircraft I might have been on? Right now, I'm guessing 727-100/200's and L-1011's.

Jer, what time is that water canon salute? I'll try and make it, I definitely want to see that.

I forgot to mention on my post above that the return flight from MCO to LGA was on a 727

That first 727-200 flight STL-TUL was in 1992, not 1997.

My first TWA flight was from JFK to FCO (Rome) in 1976. I was six years old and I remember very well, it was a Boeing 707.

My last 2 flights on TWA were in 1989, from JFK to London/Heathrow on a 747-100 operating as TWA flight 700. I was fortunate to fly in Royal Ambassador (First Class) in seat 1-A at the nose of the then very stylish 747-100, the pride and symbol of the TWA fleet. I returned about two months later on a TWA L1011 from Zurich to JFK).

In between, I flew TWA two or three times a year, to Europe (London, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, and Rome) as well as domestically, to Kansas City, Chicago, Orlando, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

A wonderful airline. A proud and powerful symbol of America's aviation prowess. Farewell.

I've also never flown TWA, but growing up they were always "the" airline. I remember that they had their own building at PHL, unlike any other airline (recently demolished for the new terminal) and they were THE airline to fly overseas.
While in Rome recently, I saw their vacant offices -- quite sad.
Even sadder is their terminal at JFK, which my parents took me to on my first trip to that airport many many years ago. How i wished we were able to fly on THAT airline, that day....

Ahh well.... Life flies on...

First:
According to my dad, it was in March 1985, when I was four months old, Los Angeles-New York/JFK, I guess on a L1011 or 747, maybe a 762.

My last:
July 30th, 2001, TWA 849, New York/JFK-Los Angeles, B757-200, N723TW.

that rounds out about 16 years of TWA. I've flown TWA's 741, 752, 762, DC9, L10, MD82/3, and TWE JS41s.

First TWA Flight
November 10, 2000
CLE-STL
MD-80
F Class

Last TWA Flight
November 19, 2000
STL-CLE
MD-80
F Class

As you can see, I've only flown TWA one time. It was CLE-IAH via STL. It was in first class on four segments and I have to say I was quite disappointed.

I'll tell you a nice story of my only 1 TWA flight was the first and last of the same day: March 31, 1998

I took TWA # 708 from Dallas/Fort Worth - Layover in MSY(New Orleans), then final to New York JFK to take a connecting flight with Royal Jordanian to Amman Jordan.

This was an MD80 aircraft. same configuration as AA MD-Super 80 interior seating plans.
