Gordon is ex-US Navy but never worked as a commercial pilot. He is a licensed CPL type rated of the 757/767 and also holds (held?) an A&P. His industry background was primarily on the maintenance side at Braniff, Piedmont and Western and later on with Boeing. In other words, he is no more a *pilot become CEO* than Frank Borman or Dick Ferris was. The true *pilot* at CO is C.D.McLean who had almost 30 yrs at Piedmont.
