ACR F28 & Bae 146 Replacements?

Wed Dec 05, 2001 6:30 am

Now that the F28's will ge gone by 2003 and 146s have already been grounded, which aircraft will ACR choose to replace them?

I don't think the Q400 would be a good substitute due to its limited cargo space and the CRJ series would not have enough runway to operate from the 6000' or less strips currently served by F28s in BC. So what other options does ACR have?

I think and hope it will be the Q400. didn't know about the cargo space issue, though.

i don't see ACR introducing a whole new type, though, at this time, so I wouldn't be holding my breath for a 728jet or anything like that.

I didn't know the Air Nova 146's were grounded yet...  Sad
Next flight.... who knows.

Unless the 146s were grounded in the last 2 days, they are still operating. Or maybe I saw 2 mirages at YUL the other day....

With the AC contract restrictions I am betting it will be more of the Dash-8 family, and what ever CRJ's Air Canada takes out of the mainline...unless that issue/restriction has been dealt with and changed.

Next flight.... who knows.

I highly doubt they will be ordering any 717s in the near future. 717s seats 108 and is not considered regional.
Hopefully the Dash8

All of AirBCs 146s have been grounded, so I figured that was the situation back east as well. The problem with Dash 8's out west is that they are unable to haul the cargo thats needed to the northern locations. That is why nearly every norhern city in BC is served by jets. It is also the reason why AC is putting in a F28 run into Kamloops on saturdays as dash 8s cannot fly the skiing equipment for the skiiers.

The F-28's are nearly all out of service, or they are. There are atleast 10 parked around YYC. I don't know if ACR will ever replace them, maybe something that is more of a new area than a direct replacement.
