El Al Questions

Hello!

I just wanted to know if there are any aircraft of El Al out there that still wear the old livery? Perhaps one of the 747 Classics? I know that the Cargo Jumbos do not wear the new colours!

Are there definete plans to retire those classics? I heard that 4X-AXC was withdrawn from use and stored at Ben Gurion in November. Can anyone confirm this?

Does anyone know if El Al has traffic right for the Toronto-Los Angeles leg of the routing TLV-YYZ-LAX which they´re flying with their own B767 this winter?

The routes that were suspended, like Chicago, Vienna and Dusseldorf, are they gonna be served again in the next summer?

El-Al's cargo Jumbos wear generally no livery at all...
The newest one, 4X-AXH, was freshly converted from pax configuration and thus is still in the magnificent old livery but without the Israeli flag nor the El-Al titles; it's just written "Cargo" in red.
I bitterly miss the old colorscheme! I hope to see some 747s in GVA this winter to admire the livery...

LY doesn't have 5th freedom rights on YYZ-LAX. Other LY742's that wear the old livery are 4X-AXF (it is a convertible, as well as 4X-AXH, 747-258C) and 4X-AXQ (747-238, pax). 4X-AXC was indeed retired.

last June it was the case, I don't know now...I'll be back
there in March so if you're not in hurry for an answer  Big grin

Hello!

These are the aircrafts that still wear the old c/s:
747-238, 4X-AXQ. (my friends will fly in this a/c next week!)
757-258, 4X-EBI.
757-258, 4X-EBR.
757-258, 4X-EBS.
757-258, 4X-EBT.

also, 4X-AXF & H (747-258 cargo operations) has the old c/s without the LY titles.

Once AXQ leave the fleet (soon!) it would be an end of an era at LY. No more pax service with the 747-200s.

El Al Cargo deals with a lot of demand at the moment so all the 4 747s are flying around the clock.

Anyway, LY would like to cease 747-200s operations by April 2002, but who knows....

LY still flies to ORD by NAA.

I can not tell you yet anything regarding the routes that were axed. The Israeli Transportation minister said this week that if LY would not reopen those routes in few months, he would "give" those routes to Arkia and/or Israir.
Expect more news to come.... LY didnt reply to that move yet.

Any comments?

oops.... forgot these;

4X-AXC, yep, that a/c is no longer in service.

And no, LY does not have 5th traffic rights on YYZ-LAX-YYZ (such a stupid way to fly to LAX).
It takes 20 hours to get to LAX from TLV. It shouldnt be that way. It shouldnt be by a 767 anyway.

I´d like to add one thing. I read that B757-258 registered 4X-EBR has left the fleet in November and was sold to Boeing Aircraft Holding Company and was rer-registered N73724. But I don´t know who´s gonna get it or where it is stored right now!

BAHC has 2 of LY ex-757 (EBL & R).
EBM flies for Israir (with a funny c/s...).

concerning the 757s, I've never been able to understand how many were in service; the number has always been different: 7, 9, 8, 8 + one in leasing......

Also, one or more of these 757s are or were leased to Arkia;
All I know is that El-Al sold at least one 757 in 1999 when they received the NG737s.

757s at LY (4X-EB#):

EBF, used as a charter a/c for Sun D'or and Arkia flights, was leased from INGL, ceased its operation in Israel at 1999, white c/s.
EBI, in servic, leased from ILFC.
EBL, sold to Boeing in NOV'00.
EBM, leased by Israir, charter layout, LY/Israir c/s.
EBR, sold to Boeing last month.
EBS, in service, old c/s.
EBT, in service, old c/s.
EBU, in service, new c/s.
EBV, in service, new c/s.

Sun D'or leases another 753 from Arkia.

I hope EBI, EBS or EBT will come to GVA on Dec 20...To me, this c/s had something magical.
