Is Evergreen International A Passenger Airline?

Sat Dec 08, 2001 11:36 am

Hey guys!  Smile

As we all know, Evergreen International is a US based airline. And it operates the B 747.

Is Evergreen International a 'pure' Passenger Carrier? If yes, where does it fly to?

I heard that they used to have cargo services as well......

Hope to hear from you guys soon!  Smile

United Airline, I believe they are a cargo company, with no passenger services...
They are based in McMinnville, Oregon and have DC-9's and B747's.

They are indeed a cargo company. I always see their 747 parked at the cargo section of LAX.

Pure cargo carrier. Evergreen flies anywhere in the world that freight capacity is needed. The PAX ops are for the US military as part of the CRAF service only.

Maybe you're confusing Evergreen International with Evergreen Airlines, aka EVA, of Taiwan, which is a pax carrier.

There is two of them, as been mentioned before. The answer for Evergreen International is currently cargo but hopefully not for long.

Evergreen International is known as a cargo only airline. However after the demise of Reeve Aleutian last year they bid and won an essential air service subsidy for the feds to replace the Reeve flights in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. There where in the process of trying to locate a Combi 727 or 737 so that they could begin service flying freight and passengers.

After September the 11 the FAA in their fit of insanity banned the transport of both freight and passengers on the same aircraft. This rule makes this Aleutian service completely unfeasable and is another classice example of how the Feds are completely off their rocker and attacking things that where not and never have been problems.

I belive Evergreen is working with the Alaskan Congressional delegation to get an exemption for not only the Aleutian service but combi service in general in the State Of Alaska. After that gets passed they will still need to locate a combi aircraft to start service.
