Air France's Jumbo 747-300s

Mon Dec 10, 2001 6:26 am

I remember seeing a couple of years ago Air France's 747-300s with a big JUMBO insiqn near the back of the planes. Why did they paint that and is there any of them left?

The -300's ars still aorund (ex UTA).
"Jumbo" was a marketing stunt to promote AF services to the French West Indies.

Are they true -300s or -200 SUDs?

They are real -300s, -3B3Ms, to be correct, they are ex-UTA F-GETA & B, which are with AF today.
The 747 with the "Jumbo" title was F-BPVL, a -128 with a CY seating of 477 (like a few other -128s, too), but that a/c has already left the AF fleet.
747-3B3M F-GETA did carry the "Big Boss" title while it was with UTA.

Correct, "Jumbo" was a -128!!

I have photographed it @ Paris-Orly, July 30th, 1995.
