Please Help To Identify My First Flight...

Tue Dec 11, 2001 9:23 am

Hello everyone,

I was excited to find this old photo someone took of my family and I 11 or 12 years ago. I asked my parents and brother if they remember anything, but all they thought of was that we flew from Florida (probably Fort Lauderdale... or area) to either LGA (NYC, NY), EWR (Newark, NJ), JFK (NYC, NY) or BDL (Hartford-Springfield, CT-MA)...

I believe its a Delta Airlines (duh) Airbus A300. My major question is, did Delta opperate out of Fort Lauderdale with the A300 (or whatever plane it is, if I'm wrong) to EWR, LGA, JFK, or BDL? This was in 1989 or 1990. Does any airport have smokestacks like the photo here in the background?

thanks a lot, I'd really appreciate ANY help,
Serge

Looks like a B767-300. Delta never flew the A300.

Yes, that is a 767, can tell by it's tail. Could that airport be Tampa ?

thanks for correcting that, I'm not sure why I thought of the A300. It COULD be Tampa, but I highly doubt it... I'll ask my family..

thanks!

Yes Delta has flew the A310 for a few years after Pan Am stopped using the A310.

The A310 is not in question, it is the A300.

It's a 767-200 domestic (no American flag on the tail). I don't know what airport it is but I don't think it's Tampa.

Serge, have you ever considered the fact that the plane in the background may not necessarily be the one you flew? Your flight may have been parked at the gate to the right of your family.

Now that would add a new wrinkle!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Cheers,
Pete

Those smokestacks are actually from the Pink Floyd: Animals CD cover. You are only imagining them  Smile

Does Boston have smokestacks like that visible from Logan?

Newark has smoke stacks like that visable, actually I think they have a bunch spread all over the inlet area. As for the plane and delta, they use to fly 767's from FLL-EWR, BOS, BDL, JFK with 767's and L1011's before Delta Express flew these routes recently.

I have a feeling the picture is from EWR though.

The four stacks are indeed on the east side of FLL. I have a number of pictures at FLL with them in it.

The aircraft in your picture looks like a 767 to me. DL never flew A300's, just the 310's, and I believe most of those flew from JFK overseas.
