Hello,

Now, what I was asking myself is, howmany different tail designs are there?
And how did they came up by decorating the tails?

Could you guy's help me, collecting them all!!!

I believe ther are/were 50 of them. BA introduced them in 1997. They have already started to replace the paintings again after complains from Brittons, not having the Union Jack on their aircraft, and ATC at LHR I believe.

When BA changed their livery to the "World Tails" and removed the Landor livery, Virgin Atlantic introduced their current livery with the Union Jack saying that they are now Brittains "flagcarrier".

Customer reaction was also negative, that was the deciding factor, not some soon-forgotton Branson BS.

I have a CD-ROM from speedbird called BRITISH AIRWAYS WORLD ART LIVERIES and was created by MIKE BARTH. You will find over 170 images of speedbird aircraft, different types with different tail designs.
I hope this will help, I don't know where you can find this CD-ROM and if it is still for sale because I received it from an English friend.

Wasn't there one called "Curry-sicked-up-on-a-Sunday-morning?"  Smile

I am amazed our Civil Aviation Authority allowed BA to introduce the tails, the safety aspects from the point of view of ATC visual identification should surely have had an impact.

From a plane-spotters point of view the tails were great, other than that it was just the same old "be ashamed to be British" fad we still suffer.  Sad

Hear, hear. Like some newspaper said sometime ago, if British Airways had found it so shameful to be British, maybe they should just call themselves Airways. Bring back the Landor!

I think British Airways should still use the ol' Landor livery. In my opinion, that looks much better than their Union Jack livery.
