LOT Replaces BA On MAN-WAW Service

Thu Dec 13, 2001 5:36 am

LOT will be restarting services to MAN from January 13th 2002. I understand this will replace the BA MAN-WAW service but see paragraph underneath.

Flight numbers and Times at MAN are:
LO289 arrives 21:25
LO290 departs 07:00

Type to be used is ERJ145.

However, the BA website still lists BA1720/1 from that date with no mention of the LOT flight. Therefore, this begs the question of whether it will be a codeshared flights.

David/MAN: 225 and counting

The new LOT service is in addittional to the British Airways flight on the route. British Airways will codeshare on LOT's service, but LOT appear not to be putting their code on the existing BA flight.

Timetable as follows;

Manchester-Warsaw
LO290/BA4470
Dep MAN: 0700
Arr WAW: 1040 Daily except SUN
ERJ-145, Opb LOT

BA1720
Dep MAN:1030
Arr WAW: 1420 Daily except SAT
ERJ-145, Opb British Regional

Wouldnt WAW-MAN be close to maximum range of ERJ145?

So LOT do a nice expensive nightstop in MAN, rather than getting BA to do the early morning flight, whilst BA/BRAL/CitiExpress will have a dog of a morning departure with a return that's too early? Good planning boys and girls.

We'll have CSA, Malev and LOT nightstopping - I wonder if MANs charges are as expensive as they are said to be?

I remember the time when CSA flew in at lunchtime and LOT had morning arrivals (and stretching my mind ever further back seeing 2 LOT Tu134s and 1 Tu134a parked at MAN at the same time)

Airport fees are only a part of the costs. Crew accommodation and allowances also have to be added in. Don't forget that there are very few seats on an Embraer to claw that cost back as revenue.

Just got the abacus out and this is the performance of the MAN-WAW route from Jan to Jul this year against last year

2001 pax: 11415
2000 pax: 11341
Change: 0.65%
Pax per flight in 2001: 31.71
Pax per flight in 2000: 32.81

Roughly 65% load factor

Well, if this flight averages 65% load factors on an ERJ-145, it's no wonder a larger type isn't used. Still, it would be nice to see LOT at BHX one day.

Mmm...if WAW cant get above 65% at MAN, then No chance at BHX. Remember MAN gets Scotland as well...

Well, CSA is filling their 737-500's at BHX. I see no reason why LOT couldn't fill an ERJ-145. Ah well, maybe one day.....A bloke can dream can't he?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

David_itl - I know what you mean, I get sick of seeing the same boring stuff at BHX. At least we had an EK 772, Uzbek 752 and Turken 752 in today. Apart from that, it was all the usual BA/BE stuff. You MAN people don't know how lucky you are!

Strange how the more "unusual" route to the regions always seem to do well! It makes you wonder why some airlines are reluctant to go to the regions.

Wouldn't be surprised if Maersk end up doing a BHX-WAW service.

BTW Our CSA flights have had nearly a 20% rise in passenger numbers!

Yeah I think you might see Maersk do BHX-WAW as David says.
