C3 did in fact serve Madrid, but not year round. Summer loads were quite strong to my knowledge, but I don't think it would do so well in the winter time. Malaga was a good money maker for C3 in the winter though. The route was served by the Royal A310's which were quite appropriate for that route.
However, it seems to me like more of a charter airline market, rather than something Air Canada would serve. Unless of course, they are using the A319???
