Will Tower Air Fly Again?

Sun Dec 16, 2001 3:26 pm

Hey guys!

In the past, I always wanted to try it once...... However, Tower ceased all of its operations in 2000.

However, they filed for Chapter 11 and the court is still dealing with Tower's Case. Moreover, I have heard rumours saying that Tower Air may fly again.

Do you guys think Tower Air will ever fly again?

I'm still laughing over one poster's response to a similar question.. 'Arghhhhhh!! Attack of the 741s!!!'  Laugh out loud

Seriously, I think Tower added much needed personality to the aviation scene and would love to hear they're back in business.

Good Lord, I hope not! :P
With their image, I doubt you'd find anyone on this board who'd like to see it happen! Interesting, though. BUT, I thought I had heard that an equally insane group of investors had acquired most of Tower's "assets", earlier this year? Anyone remember this, or was it just a nightmare?
Next flight.... who knows.

I sure hope they don't ever fly again!
I used to groundhandle them in LAS. The flights were always 6 to 10 hours late, they made all passengers sign
limited release tags so they didnt have to repair damaged bags that they (Tower) caused.
The LAS Manager used to hide when we were on delay.
Tower was a complete nightmare !!
also their 747's to LAS were freeloaded not containerized.

I have heard that Transjet of sweeden have aquired 2 747-200's from Tower Air to do the hadj on behalf of Air Afrique.
Never really knew that much about Tower Air but if they had delays of 6-10hrs etc, very unorganised then it reminds me of the airline i use to work for.
Never a dull moment and although lots of hassle....it was good fun and made it interesting.

Hey Lasbagman,

How is it possible that the Tower B747s were
free-loaded? The B747 has an open floor!!!
Did Tower have their aircraft modified to a solid
floor? I know that Hawaiian and ATA have
operated L-1011's free-loaded, but those planes
had a solid floor to ease stacking of bags, along
with compartment divider nets.

As an offical Tower Air expert, no

Tower did file chapter 7 bankruptcy in delaware last december. check out there web site www.towerair.com - exactly. I was a member of the group who purchased there assets. We purchased there assets to get an FAA Par. 121 operating cert. Those assets where, contracts, flight manuals, training operts. and computers for 747 operation.

I liked Tower!

Jfk747, your an idiot no offense.

If you can't spell "their" correctly, I hardly believe you bought "there assets".

Also, I don't think you can simply buy an Air Operators Certificate (AOC) in the states without proving to the FAA that your worthy of having it.

Twaneedsnohelp:

Be careful when you point out grammatical shortcomings in others' posts. Particularly when you, yourself, say the following:

"Jfk747, your an idiot no offense."

Of course, "your", should be "you're", as a contraction of you + are.

Twaneedsnohelp:

I agree with you. Actually, for that price, you have NOTHING to complain about Tower.....

And believe it or not. One of my friend was on one of Tower's last flights and he told me that the service is not that bad........ For that price, you have nothing to complain really........

I really hope not!

A good friend of mine nearly got killed by an overzealous Tower pilot. The pilot cranked his engines up, turned too quick and flung a PMC pallet 40ft in the air, and my friend was standing 20ft away when it happened, had to run to not get hit when the thing came down!

GARUDAROD...
you can bulk load the a B747 by putting down ULD's and locking them in then stacking the bags on top, loose loaded. It seems kind of crazy though. I would only want to do it if I absolutely had to (i.e. no deck loaders), but it can be done!

regards,
Tom

Hey KAL_LM,

I certainly wouldnt want to fly on a 747 that
had baggage loaded like that. As delicate as the
side wall lining is on the Jumbo, baggage flying
around unrestrained is liable to do some serious
damage. Thanks for the update. I kind of figured
that you would have to put down a metal pallet,
but then why not just net it down? I thought
I had seen it all with PeoplExpress and their
74's...but they never went so far as to load
the baggage loose.....
