New Service From Manchester

Fri Dec 21, 2001 10:33 pm

New airlines service from Manchester. Apparently, now CSA Czech airlines flies to Manchester 5 times per week with 737. Malev also flies five times per week with Fokker 70. Now LOT flies daily to Manchester with Embraer. And I think it is cool that all three aircraft stay overnight at the early in the morning there are three departures to Central European capitals.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
Hopefully, soon there will be even more flights from Manchester to Eastern Europe.
In the Summer, Croatia Airlines flies scheduled seasonal flights to Pula, Split and Dubrovnik. I think thats all from East Europe.

Now the new flight from
LOT will inaugurate nonstop service from Warsaw to Manchester on 13Jan02
Schedules as follows :
LO4471 WAW 1935-2125 MAN 0700-1040 WAW BA4470
Flights will be operated with an Embraer 145 in codeshare with British Airways.

Anyway, what will happen with LOT, anybody has more info on development of his company and its future (alliance!)?

Actually, next year sees the 10th anniversary of the CSA service at MAN; hopefully we'll have an extra service per week to make it daily in summer, 6 weekly in winter.
Malev have gone down to 4 weekly for the winter but should go back to 5 weekly next year.

The LOT flight numbers are LO289/290; the justplanes site is quoting the BA codeshare flight numbers!

We used to have a weekly service to Kiev and Ivanofrancovsk, and twice weekly services to Moscow and Bucharest. Then there was the Tashkent service for a couple of years but we now have the Askhabad service (but both these services are dependent on someone calling them European cities).

And if we want to continue the upbeat news, we have seen a new BA service to Zurich and City Air start a Linkoping & Gothenburg link.

Next June sees Air Jamaica here as well

The Linkoping service must be something to do with BAe Systems. My cousin is living in Linkoping and working for Saab but actually works for BAe Systems. I think there is a lot of traffic between the two companies. Up till now he has been flying from Wharton Aerodrome near Blackpool on a BAe charter.

Parra, here's an extract from

City Airline's sales and marketing director Martin Lansinger said: ‘‘Things are going better than we expected. We expected our planes to be up to 45 per cent full, but we are filling 60 per cent of the seats.

‘‘Most of our passengers are business travellers - AstraZeneca has a big office in Gothenburg and one near Manchester Airport, while BAE has a connection with Saab at Linkoping.

‘‘We have now introduced a business class of between 15 and 20 seats, with champagne and gifts.’’
