Twin City Airport Names Limited To The West?

Sat Dec 22, 2001 3:49 pm

Are there any Asian airports that serve twin cities and are named after both like in the West, Dallas/FortWorth, Minniappolis/St.Paul, Leeds/Bradford others? cant seem to find any in Asia, although Pakistan's capital Islamabad shares the airport with its twin Rawalpindi which has existed much befire ISB came into existence in the 50's, it has been renamed Islamabad international airport doing away with Rawalpindi, which is sad, because the airport actually lies in the Rawalpindi area, I think it should be renamed Islamabad/Rawalpindi international airport Smile

Don't forget Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, one of America's fastest growing airports and an emerging base of operations for Delta and Delta Express, Spirit Airlines, JetBlue, and Southwest.

Berlin-Brandenburg, well sort of, if it ever gets built.
Köln-Bonn (now that's definitely twin city).
And, of course, in Ryanair's terminology: Frankfurt-Hahn, which must be one of the better jokes in aviation (for all Americans: If you look at the distance between Frankfurt and Hahn you could as well name LAX the Los Angeles-San Francisco twin city airport).
Merry Christmas
