CO 762's To Europe

Sat Dec 22, 2001 11:21 pm

I will be flying to Milan on CO in a 767-200ER in January. Has anyone flown the 762 to Europe w/Continental? What is it like?

I have flown their 767-400 and 777 transatlantic and I imagine this isn't going to be much different.

Any comments?

Also, what routes are the 762's flying to Europe now for CO?

Since the 11th sep attacks the daily EWR-FRA flight is downgraded from the B777 to a B762.
I don't know anything about their seating!

- 2-3-2 seating in Coach
- PTVs in at every seat
- rather normal seat pitch

BTW: The EWR-FRA flight will be served by a -400 from march, I think.

Currently, I believe the 762's are flying from Newark to:

London/Gatwick (CO 18) 6:40pm

Milan/Malpensa

Frankfurt

Brussels (perhaps upgraded from 757 again following Sabena's demise)

Houston-Sao Paolo

Madrid is flown five times a week now with a 777.

EWR- AMS is downgraded to a B752 after september 11.
From April CO will fly Houston - Amsterdam with a B764.

I certainly hope to see the CO 777 one day here at AMS.

I flew on a CO 762 from MCO-IAH in July. The biz first seating is 2-1-2 and the biz first is great! So much legroom and great seats. Coach is nice too with PTV's and a selection of movies, channels and games to play. Pitch is from 32'-33', I think some of the back crew seats are 36 inch pitch, but you wont be able to request those on transatlantic flights.

I flew the 767-200 this past summer from EWR-AMS. Continental did not stop the 767-200 to AMS because of 9-11-01. They use the 757 for winter season same as last year. This goes until April of May when summer traffic picks up.

The plane was very nice PTV in coach class! and not loud at all! no complaints

I know it wasn't transatlantic, but I flew on a 762 twice from EWR-IAH, once in first and once in coach.

Both flights were excellent. You'll have a great time. The 762 only seats 180 people, so you'll be on and off in no time. If you're stuck in coach request bulkhead seats, there's cutouts in the bulkhead walls so you'll be able to stretch your legs out.

Continental's 762s are probably the most comfortable plane they have, at least for coach seating. I just took one last night, though it was domestic. If you can, get a seat in row 16-18, as these three rows are isolated from both BF, and the rest of the coach cabin. Once the service ends, it gets real dark in there and is perfect for sleeping.

The CO 762's are brand new and are the only -200s with the updated interior and overhead bins found in the -400 (which in turn were modeled on the 777). So there's no way your going to feel like you are in an outdated aircraft.
I am sure the actual seat hardware is identical to the -400 and for your reference, there are pics of the CO 767-400 cabin in the photo files on this site. PTV's all around and nice 5-across Business First. Hubba hubba.
