Yeah ... but is that any closer than the people who watch the planes on the beach on St. Maarten?

It's not. Vancouver Airport also have the same area that you get to stand really close to the airplane landings.

At my airport you can stand 10-15 feet under landing planes... expect pictures when I get them developed...

You used to be able to stand really close to them on approach at FAT. Unfortunately, that road is now blocaded  Sad.

That Iberia is really close! I saw a NWA DC-9 very close approaching 12L at MSP! I know it was low! No questioning me that I'm not educated enough to know that it's low! I'm working my way currently for my PPL, and I have great judgements. I could also tell by the VASI/PAPI!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Im sorry for my ignorance, is the proximity of that Air France aircraft actually real??? It is so close, it's too good to be true!  Smile

Digitalone: I guess you haven't seen many pics from St. Maarten, search the database for SXM and you'll see for yourself.

I want to go to Ostend this holiday (depending on the weather probably this friday). Do you know if this place can be reached using public transportation?

Try Chicago Midway... planes fly over people waiting for public transportation by about 50-100 feet (about 100 feet from the threshold). This is during normal operations for all runways. Especially exciting when you get a 757-300 going over, or a 727.

Lets all not forget what happened a few years ago with one of Delta's L-1011's.
Remember how close that came to the road and what happened to the car ?

This is what happens when you drop an airport on a square mile in the middle of a neighborhood.  Smile

Correction...

..this is what happens when an airport of one square mile has a neighborhood develop on all of the previously-vacant land around it.
...three miles from BRONS, clear for the ILS one five approach...

What About This Guy While This GF340 Was Taking-o

Thu Dec 27, 2001 5:15 am

Hi,
sometimes it looks pretty weird how close some guys get to an aircraft in action...
