NWA's 747-200 Cockpit Questions.

Wed Dec 26, 2001 3:45 am

I was wondering when Northwest updated their 747-200 cockpits with semi-glass cockpit instruments? Has any other airline done this?

Here is a photo of a Northwest Airlines 747-200 cockpit.

I do believe that it hasn't been modified at all.

NWA tends to use tape engine instruments in all its widebodies. Including the DC-10s. I can't be bothered to find pics, but they're here  Big grin. Why they do this? Who knows. Perhaps for more comonality within their fleets? Certainly their 747 classics and DC-10s are abnormal.

That might well be a standard for Northwest but it's *very* different to the Boeing "standard" 742.

Hello, i'm actually the uploader of this shot, so let me say thank you first!

Your question: semi-glass cockpit. On that flight, I do ask the same question to the pilots too, they told me NW is currently extending the -200 life by adding Digital Engine Display, he also said NW will continue their digital renovation, including Basic Flt. Instrument Display.

Hope this help

The DC-10's also have those same engine instruments... and the -30's are getting equipped with EHSI's.
