When Did They Close Kai Tak Intl.

Fri Dec 28, 2001 12:11 am

I just got flightsimulator 2002 and I was setting up a few United Airlines 747-400 routes.

I went to set up Ohare-Kai Tak and Kai Tak wasn't in there.

So I went to ual.com to see if I spelled it right and it wasn't on there route map. I thought since United is kind of going down the toilet (No offense to you United fans, I am one myself) I thought that they just took it off their route due to cut backs.

Then I typed in Kai Tak in the search engine and got on it's website and on the front page it said "Good by Kai Tak, we will miss you".

When did they close it. I probubly need to pay attension a little better.

Go United!

It closed in 1998.

If you want to have a look at what Kai Tak looks like now, please have a look at my post 'Kai Tak Today - With Photos' here:

Welll the Chicago route flew to both Kai Tak and CLK...and in my memories UA never suspended the route.I still remember the UA B744 taking off on runway 31 in winter while morning assembly at the school playground around 8;00 - 8:20 ...sometimes later than SQ1, sometimes earlier...damn i'll hardly get to see both planes so close to me in the city.

Best Regards
