Smoking PW's

Sat Dec 29, 2001 12:12 am

Has anyone ever noticed that PW-engines smoke a lot more than their RR and GE counterparts? See a NW 747-400 take off followed by a KLM one and see the difference. The NW seems like a 707 from the distance!!!
PW-777 smoke more aswell. Doesn't look very hi-tech!

RR makes the most advanced and quiet engines at the moment, if you ask me.

If we ask you?
I don't remember asking you.

Just kidding.

But really, have anything to back up your opinion?
There are a lot of GE fans that will flame you- I am not one of them, I am a Pratt guy myself- for saying that RR is more advanced... than their GE90...

Well, Imagine how much this Cegar Engine smokes in one day...

But this JT8D-219C has realized that smoking is bad for the environment, so he has cut back.
