Your Ideas For Good Routes For A New Airline.

Sat Dec 29, 2001 7:31 am

Hey all,

I'm brainstorming here. If I were to start an airline opperating 777s in 3 class configuration, what do you think would be good routes to make? Try to think of the best international routes from the US, and not your home town unless it is one of the best routes. Also could you include what model of 777 you think would be best and how many flights a week would work the best.
Thanks, you all!

Difficult question really. Depends on who you are competing against. Obviously the first international route a long haul airline would look to is London, I'm not biased here (due to my username). There are factors involved here like is the route profitable, is there demand for business/leisure pax. If i did start the route, i would go for a 2 class 777-200 seating around 250-70 passengers. Give the route a bit of time and see how its doing, if there is demand then increase capacity by adding 777-300's maybe and add another class. Then ofcourse look into other important business and tourist destinations such Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome etc.

Hope this helps you.

777-300

SEA-NRTx6
Since AMR is pulling out of SEA-NRT market, NW and UA need some more competition.

SEA-MXPx6
777-200
No one Serves this route.....

SEA-LHRx6
777-200
BA needs the competition

SEA-FRAx6
777-200
No one serves this route

SEA-SYDx5
777-300LR

Perhaps a stretch but it would be fun.....

SEA-HNLx14
777-200

NRT-HKGx21
777-300
high capacity and lots of cargo

HKG-SYDx14
777-300
Tourists and cargo

SYD-SINx14
777-300
Business and cargo

LHR-NRTx14

That's tough.
I'm not using my hometown out of favouritism, but because I know something about the market.

772 for these routes:
SFO-FRA, 4 weekly to start.
SFO-SIN (no nonstops from SFO-SIN yet, so this would be a good route.), 3 weekly.
773 for:
SFO-SVO (Aeroflot already operates this route, but with a Seattle connection), 2 weekly.
Osaka-SFO-ORD(It's not like all Japanese tourists to SF live in Tokyo. I think that there's a market in southern Honshu for nonstops to the west coast and midwest from airports other than NRT.) 3 weekly.
Get your patchouli stink outta my store!

I've always wanted to start an international JetBlue type airline from MIA to Europe, middle east, and S. America.

AerLingus, there is a reason there is no non-stop SIN-SFO service. It cannot be done. The new 345 will be able too. As for me? If I were to put it on the most profitable long-haul flights I could think of...

JFK-LHR
JFK-FRA
JFK-CDG

MIA-EZE
MIA-GRU
MIA-MAD

SFO-NRT
SFO-ICN
SFO-HKG

ORD-LHR
ORD-NRT
ORD-FRA

LAX-NRT
LAX-ICN
LAX-LHR

I would operate with 752(ER), 772(ER) and 332 aircraft, and with AMS as homebase with the following flights:

AMS-POS-PBM-AMS daily
AMS-SXM-AMS 3 times a week
AMS-GIG-AMS 4 times a week
AMS-MRU-AMS 2 times a week
AMS-SIN-SYD-SIN-AMS 3 times a week
AMS-SIN-MEL-SIN-AMS 2 times a week
AMS-DAC-AMS daily
AMS-LAS-AMS 3 times a week
