EL Al And A340's

Tue Aug 03, 1999 1:50 am

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal that says that Airbus is trying to sell A340's to El Al. The article stated that Airbus was planning on putting a synagouge on the lower deck of the plane so passengers could worship. This is unlike on a 747 where you have to stand at the back of the plane, where it gets congested.(This is from the article, not from my own experience.) Finally, I guess one of the Jewish customs is that the covenant has to face Jerusalem, so Airbus was going to have this little contraption so that it could be moved. My question is this. Do you think El Al will buy A340's? Do they need them? And finally, will something like this really convince an airline to buy a plane?
