I think you have to consider what BMI was thinking of when it talked about replacing Fokkers with 717s or A318s, and whether the situation has perhaps changed somewhat now.
The Fokker 70s may be going to KLMC (is this confirmed yet?), but there's three more A320s coming which may go straight into store, and between four and six A321s parked at the moment, so extra capacity obviously isn't an issue. Furthermore, the East Mids operation which isn't hugely profitable and is where the Fokkers predominate may well come under pressure if Go launch competitive routes next spring.
I think the likelihood is downsizing to Embraers, and in any case, IF new equipment is needed for regional operations its more likely to come from that source now, rather than from Boeing or Airbus.
