Increasing An Aircraft's Range...

Wed Jan 02, 2002 6:46 pm

Hi I was was wondering what would be the maximum range that a passenger A319 would be able to travel with AUX fuel tanks. I know that the CJ can fly up to 6700nm but what about a passenger version. I am also curious about the 738, any help?

Well, you could fill an aircraft up with fuel until you reach its MTOW, so you could figure this out, figure out the aircrafts fuel burn per hour, then calculate how long it could fly.

Also, there's the possibility of developing new, more powerful engines, thus increasing MTOW, increasing fuel capacity, increasing range.

More powerful engines are already available for the A319.

They're used on the A320 & A321 =)

Cheers,

So if I add some AUX tanks, how much would that take away from the baggage capacity? I was figuring an LAX-LIM-SCL route, since LAN is all powerful I was thinking a smaller plane could be put on the route.
