Have you done a research on this forum?
We talked about it a lot of time oago so it could be difficult.
Anyway I can tell you that AZ placed an order for 5 B747-400 plus 3 options when they were still involved in the alliance with KLM back in 1999. This move was meant to standardize the long haul fleet on B767/MD-11/B747-400 just like KLM.
When the alliance broke out Alitalia switched the order on the more suited 777
Very old news. Alitalia did order 5 747-400's in 2000 and then cancelled the order in favor of the 777. All
of the 747-400 positions were transferred to Virgin
Atlantic Airways which now operates them.
A small correction:
Alitalia has 6 B777-200ER with GE90-94B engines on order. The first should arrive in August, not April. But I might be wrong on this.
Plus they have 6 options for the GE90-115B powered B777-300ER and 6 more rolling options for unspecified versions.
