Amsterdam: Diversions Today?

Wed Jan 02, 2002 11:35 pm

What was happened at AMS today? Bad weather?
I know that some jets are diverted to other airports.

For example

NW048 : DTW-AMS (DC-10 / N242NW) to DUS
NW056 : MSP-AMS (DC-10 / NW230NW) to DUS.

Are there more diversions?

There was extrmely dense fog. I have been at Schiphol alongside one of the taxiways and I have seen 3 planes. I heard a lot more.  Sad

I met a guy from Detroit at BRU this morning ( i was coming from Toulouse ) whose NW DC-10 Detroit-AMS had been diverted due to dense fog he said.
He had to go to Aachen by train through Brussels &
had lost his luggage- Poor guy !
By the way, i took a good look at the NW DC-10 when
taxiing and it did look tired !

Flights to and from AMS from most UK airports are running about 4 hours late, many flights have been cancelled due to the bad weather

FOG And No Wind

Thu Jan 03, 2002 6:04 am

There was a thick fog because of the snow covered fields and a lack of wind.

Wind Is Coming, Fog Will Go

Thu Jan 03, 2002 6:16 am

Tonight a south-east wind will come up which will blow away the fog. The south of the Netherlands was sunny but cold today. Maastricht Aachen Airport, Rotterdam Airport en Eindhoven Airport were open.

Yes, RTM and MST also use for diversions.

BTW The NWA DC-10 (N230NW) will stay there untill tomorrow and will arrive at AMS at 11.55AM. No expected arrival time for the other NWA DC-10 in DUS (the N242NW)

Another NWA DC10 (N243NW is scheduled to arrive tomorrow from BRU)

Regards
Laurens

Andie,

where are the NW DC-10`s standing at DUS overnight, still at (near) Terminal C ?

Maybe I start work later and go tomorrow morning to DUS to see them.

Sorry Sabena 332,

I was a little bit tired and stand up late  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
The 2 NW's were both on a finger at Terminal C.
But now I can't promise that both are there.
Perhaps they're back to America (via Amsterdam)

Unfortunately for me yesterday I was in the AMS caos and I had a very bad experience.
It was foggy and also many planes asked the deicing and it made more delayed.
