Agadir, Alicante, Casablanca, Faro, Gibraltar, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, London, Lisbon, Madeira, Malaga, Malta, Marrakech, Montpellier, Nantes, Palma de Mallorca, Porto, Seville, Tenerife, Tangier, Tunis, Valencia

But not neccesarily in that order or at the same time Big grin

The buses will eventually replace the 737's so all the above routes apply  Wink/being sarcastic

Hello

Can someone explain me what exactly GB Airways is. I remember that they wear BA colours but why? Is it a different airline, maybe franchise partner?
I have seen a GB plane in Gibraltar once so I was thinking it would be Gibraltar Airways.
Thanks for your help.

Cheers paul. I am going to PMI and was hoping I would get a A320/321 instead of a flamin' 734!

Spot on - the website reads:

GB Airways operates under a franchise agreement with British Airways. This agreement ensures all elements of our service are delivered in the style of British Airways; our flight numbers use a BA prefix; our aircraft are painted in British Airways livery; our Cabin Crew wear the British Airways uniform and offer on-board service that matches the highest standards of British Airways.

In other words - BA let us run their short hauls routes that they don't want to - we make money off them (maybe) and BA gets a fee and flight numbers and a big route network. It also may be to avoid some high costs that may be associated with BA (ie Unions and staff) and also reduce the number of aircraft types BA deals with.

RJ100, Further to the earlier reply GB Airways did grow out of the old Gib Airways and are still owned by the Bland Group, a Gibraltar based company run by the Gaggero family. The airline is UK based though, as it has to be in order to get EU status in terms of routes etc. They have a sister company running a tour operating business in the shape of Cadogan Holidays.

In 1999, we had the unusual position of them sub-contracting the MAN-GIB route to British Regional using the GB flightnumbers under franchise to BA!

When did the sister airline GB Leisure disappear?

Gibraltars Bland group are very dominant on the Rock of Gibraltar, and are a very well run company. As well as the airline franchise, they hold the franchise for Avis and UPS.

They have expanded from Gibraltar and now own travel agencies and Car Rental franchises in southern Spain. I had a really good meeting with them in Sotogrande in September!
