BA/Cityflyer Avro RJ100 Configuration

Hi all,

I'm scheduled to fly Frankfurt - London Gatwick on BA 2717 on February 24, 2002. I have checked the itinerary from British Airways and it states that the aircraft type used is "AR1" which I presume means that it is an Avro RJ100, with the flight being operated by Cityflyer.

My question: Does anyone know if these aircraft are a) fully fitted with the new blue leather BA seats and b) are the aircraft configured 3x3 or 3x2 in economy? I have had a look on the BA Website but as Citflyer is a franchisee, they do not display the seat layouts for their aircraft.

I hope somone out there can help provide the info I need!

Cityflyer operates Avro RJ100 in a 110 seat configuration. I guess that mean 2+3 business and 3+3 economy but I´m not sure! 2+3 seating throughout the aircraft mostly result in app 97-100 seats.

My last BA flight was in an Avro RJ100, economy is 3+3, very cramped.
Flown: A319/320/321,A332/3,A380,AT4,AT7,B732/3/4/5/7/8,B742/4,B762/763,B772,CR2,CR7,ER4,E70,E75,F50/70,M11,L15,S20

BA 3-3 its cramped. I flew DAT RJ100 it had 2-3 in economy with leather seats - DAT r excellent

BTW Why didnt you fly FRA-LHR on Air Namibia? 744 - Much better

The answers re config are correct, but as an aside it isn't really a CityFlyer flight anymore. CityFlyer have been merged into BA's LGW operation now and while it continues under a FD AOC until March, to all intents and purposes it is now just another BA flight.

What made it different before is now gone.
She's as nervous as a very small nun at a penguin shoot.

I flew 3 days ago in a DAT Avro and found the
2-3 config with blue leather seats excellent.
The plane seemed to be much quieter than a 737
Too bad BAE has decided to pull the plug :-(

The way things are at the moment there is no gaurantee that your flight will be operated by RJ100. It could easily be a 737.

Hi guys and gals!
Thanks a lot for the information.
The whole thing is a bit strange. On Februar 24, 2002 the flight BA 2717 FRA - LGW is an RJ100 but LGW - FRA one week later Sunday March 3, 2002 on BA 2716 (i.e. the aircraft that positions out to FRA to do BA 2717 at 17.10) is a B737-400.
I don't have much choice as far as the airline is concerned - it's a business trip and as such, we have to stick to LH or BA for corporate discounts. Air Namibia therefore isn't an option although a 744 would be nice. I suspected 3x3 on BA but recently I travelled on a 146 operated by Titan and they had a really nice 2x3 config. and I was kind of hopeful that it may be the same. Oh well - 3x3 for 1hr30 flight is fine - at least I'm thin!
