Montenegro,

As a Brazilian, I thank you very much for your kind words regarding Varig.

I am, myself, a big fan of Alitalia. One of my most tender memories is to travel with my granpa some 100km until Viracopos Airport to spot the Alitalia DC-10´s, which used to land over there some 20 years ago. It was just an extravaganza to watch such an increadible bird sitting alone in that huge tarmac.

Ciao!!!

Ciro,

thank you, but this constatation goes forward of simle "likeing". I think that is simply perfect, Varig has a wonderful cs and it is such a joy for me seeing new planes for such a glorious airline. I have never flied them, but who knows? I have a hope.

I remember the immaculate Varig DC-10's at LHR, I saw the first I think in 1978/79, I was watching aircraft land at LHR from my backyard with a telescope, and the first aircraft I focussed in on was one of these;

Thanks for the photos! Then and now, Varig has always had some lovely a/c.

I used to fly the DC-10's a lot between EZE and GRU, and the 742 to the UK. I remember very distinctly always getting a window seat beside the engines with the old 'GE' symbol.

Great airline-and great Brazilian service-always happy, always smiling.

Genuine happiness all round was what I liked most about Varig service!

Regards

To tell you the truth, in my little 'corner' of the world,
one thing I have found since being a member here, are the number of airlines in the world!! Wow! I am still coming across 'new' ones in the A.net photo database, even just today. I had never heard of Varig until a few months ago, and have certainly never seen their aircraft, so it's very refreshing to be part of a world that goes beyond Qantas!!

Varig has very nice colours and they looks amazing on the 777. I saw PP-VRB in LHR a few weeks ago.

They used to fly into HKG with 744s, then 743s then MD11s. Unfortunately not any more. Perhaps they will come back one day!! I hope so.
