I am 6 foot 3 and I want to be an airline pilot. Will this restrict me in anyway. Could some tall pilots please tell me how tall they are and if this will be a problem for me. Can the pilots seats in most planes be put back? And do jets have the rudder pedals at there feet. I recently flew a bonanza and I were fine.
Thanks for your help in advance.
I heard a student pilot at the airport saying yesterday that his father flies for Continental and is 6'5". I also met a commuter airline pilot not that long ago about the same height. I think you'll be fine.
I've never heard that there is a requirement not to be too short. I wonder if somebody could shed some light on this??? I have to sit on a pillow in a Cessna 152 but was told that in a lot of newer planes the seats are a lot more accomodating for shorter people. I am 5'1" (barely!)
I'm 6'4" and have had no problems except when I wanted to fly fighters in the USAF. If I ejected my body would go with the seat but my knees to my feet would have went down with the aircraft. So my fighter career never got off the ground so to speak.
