I just wanted to ask you OA340, if you live in the US, then how come you pay taxes in Greece too?
On the other hand, I live in Greece and I pay taxes here.
And another thing, I don't know how long you have been away from Greece but you obviously don't know that, no one here care for the country. If one can get a good job and the job pays, then that is all that matters. "Simferon" - that's what it's called.
While Tax info is personal, I can assure you that I do pay my duty in Greece.
Back to the point: It is well-known that shortsighted self-interest is gloryfied. It is also well-known the heavy hand that the government has, and how happily it is applied to private business' works into making labour market very inflexible.
Just look at today's news regarding the private schools - they are trying to impose permanency to every hire. Then why would the private school's owner expand, if he risks having to hold on to the same individual, even if he's a bad apple? Same logic for airlines.
