I had a transatlantic flight from Orlando to London return and I choose BA because i wanted to add the miles from that on my AAdvantage. At the check in i found out that i wasn't able to get the miles because transatlantic flights are not covered for the milage partnership or some other reason like that.
There is this whole BA/AA thing going on, plus they are both in Oneworld, It absolutely does not make sense to me at all that i couldn't earn any miles. Can anyone explain this in detail pls

Your experience is one of many types of problems that BA and AA are trying to ameliorate by applying for closer partnership on transatlantic routes. If an AA-BA deal is approved, AAdvantage and BA mileage program members would be able to accrue and redeem miles on both carriers on/for transatlantic flights.

The possibility of using AAdvantage miles to buy/upgrade BA tickets is pretty much the main reason why I personally support the link-up.
