What Is It Like Riding In A B777-300?

Mon Jan 14, 2002 9:43 am

Hello,

Can anyone who has been inside a B777-300, tell me how it was like etc.I am interested to know the feeling of the interior and the actual plane ride itself. Was it spacious and did it seem very long and wide?More so than a B747-400? And would there be any B777s coming to Vancouver, BC? I cannot seem to spot any at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR), but I am hoping for the day I will see one.And also, has anyone been up close to a B777-300 or taken a picture of it?Is its large width noticable? I would imagine its two huge engines would be!

Thankyou =)

Is it even out yet?

I thought only 772s are out.

Maybe Cathay or someone will buy it and will have mx stops in YVR

I've been on a domestic 773 in Japan once. This bird is really huge inside, especially in the Y section. Even if the plane looks great, I don't really like it as a passenger.

PanAm747, the 773 has been out for a few years now, I don't know how long exactly though. JAL, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, ANA, Korean Airlines, Thai, and Emirates operate it. I don't know if there are any others.

I've flown heaps on TG's 773.. it's got more space around the ceiling/head area due to the curved design.

It was pleasant enough, but really just like any other plane.

I changed planes at ICN (Seoul) on Korean air from a 744 to a 773. The 777-300 is LOOOOOOOOOOONG. It didn't feel any different than the 772's that I have flown on on American and United. But, I was seated in economy class, and I was WAY ahead of the engines, which is not so easy to do in a 772. Take off was powerful and the ride very smooth as we headed for PEK.

Seeing how you're so interested in the 777-300 and how it compares to the 747, here's some quick reference for you with relevance to your question.

747- interior cabin width = 20'
overall length = 231'

773- interior cabin width = 19' 3"
overall length = 242'

I flew on an SQ 777-300 from Penang to Singapore once. I remember looking down the cabin and thinking the aircraft really was incredibly long. I would say it definitely looks longer than a 747 inside (externally it's 3m longer than a 747).

On the short flight from Penang on a short runway the take-off performance was truly awesome (Trent 800 power).

The 777-300 is my favourite aircraft to fly on.

Emirates to Dubai I think is the only one from LHR.
773 are used for intra asian & regional flights by the asian airlines that operate them

The Real Answer To Your Question

When the captain tells you the time you have to set your watch an hour in the other direction anyway 'cause he's in another time zone.

Flew on a SQ B773 flight from Singapore to Hong Kong on SQ868 Last August and would say that the feeling is really different comparing with the B747s.Well it wasn't as noisy as the B744s though (Probably because seated in seat 3C) and slept all through the flight without taking my meal!

Overall it was a wonderful flight! But comparing wth the B772s that i've taken twice (Hong Kong to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur to Singapore) and it seems that the B772s are even better and makes me feel very cosy inside!

Best Regards

I haven't been on one but I would say it's like flying a stretched 777-200  Smile

It is a wonderful experience. If you are in F or J class, you can really feel the power of the engines as you lift up.

It is terribly long and I remember making my way from the F cabin to the Y cabin. It took me ages.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Been on the B777-300 twice. When you are inside, you really feel that the B777-300 is way longer and wider than the B744, but in fact it is only about 10 feet and it is narrower than the B744. It is really a nice experience and comparing it to the B777-200s I have flew on, I prefer to fly the B777-300 more. It rotates more gently than other planes.

But well, personally, nothing beats the B744.  Smile Not the most popular plane here but nevertheless...

I flew twice on the 777-300, once from London Heathrow to Dubai, and another time from Karachi to Dubai.
It's a lovely plane, and just as everyone else said, the cabin is LONNNNNNNNG. Also because they in general tend to be newer than the 777-200s, their cabins are nicer and more modern.

However, contraryto everyone else's comments, I did NOT find the take-off power as impressive as the 777-200. Presumably because it is a heavier aircraft,on both flights we used up almost the entire runway, and climb out was sluggish.

As for YVR, no triple 7's operate scheduled service. I think Singapore Airlines thought about doing so, but it hasn't happened yet. Until that day its just 747's, A340's and 763's for the long range planes. But hey, AC has a 346 on order and that will probably operate out of YVR.

hope that helps

I flew on an Emirates 777-300 from Dubai to Bangkok. Its one hell of a huge plane, I remember walking down the airbridge at DXB and tried to get a glimpse of the rear of the aircraft but it was so far down I couldn't see it! The cockpit looks huge too, same as the 777-200 I presume. The cabin is very long, as everyone has said, and the moulded ceiling makes the cabin feel very spacious, the overhead bins don't dominate the cabin.

When we took off the take-off roll seemed to go on for ever, and I really felt the power of the engines. My flight was full and add to that the configuration Emirates uses on their 777's of 3-4-3 and the 777-300 sure carries a hell of alot of passengers!

In my experience i'd say the -300 was better than the -200. flew EK 777-200 from Singapore to Dubai and the aircraft was showing alot of wear and tear, plus it had a Navigation failure en-route from MEL to SIN so we had a 15 hour delay! Still, once your in either type 777 you could be in any widebody Boeing I suppose.

Are there any issues with dutch roll in the 773s? I remember hearing that there were some teething problems with the 772s where dutch roll was concerned...
