Anyone Flown Great Plains Air

Mon Jan 14, 2002 11:47 am

Has anyone flown Great Plains Air lines? They fly Dorniers
and link out of Oklahoma. I will be back taking a commercial flight for the first time in many months on this new little airline in a week. Just curious how they are. Ciao.

I've seen them a few times when they were Ozarks, a little over a year ago. There crews seemed friendly, met one at Joplin, and the Dorniers seemd nice. They loved them. I've never ridden on them though, so can't comment on their sevice.

Thanks. I know they seat 32 on those Dorniers and they have just changed the Tail colours on their planes. They local papers said they want to expand service.
and they just partnered with Rio Grande Air for commute service to Durango and Taos

Thanks,

They are said to be in talks with Fairchild-Dornier about another 3 or 4 FD328-300. They wanted to signan order already back in September but then the 11th came. Seems that the order has been delayed a bit.

All I know about them besides the fact that they used to be Ozark is that they are the first airline to use shift paint, where there colors will change depending on the environment around it. Depending on the light angle the sun is the colors appear different.

There is a small artical in this months issue of Airways Magazine that shows the Dorniers and effects of light. In one picture the tail looks dark blue, another it looks purple. I have a guitar that does that under regular lights and fleourescant lights.

they are really ad blitzing in OKC, billboards everywhere.

Plus they added the C Springs service and partnered with Rio Grande for the skiers to go to Taos and Durango.

I've seen 2 of their planes and each had a different tail. I couldn't tell about the paint, I will look in few days when I go up to Albuquerque. Ciao.

I just got back from Dallas and my last leg was MKE-DSM on a Skyway 328JET. They are fantastic! Try to get a seat 'A' because they are both window and aisle seats. They are my new favorite regional jet because they seem a bit wider and taller than the ERJ, my previous favorite and three across is better than the CRJ's four across, not to mention the tiny and poorly placed windows in the CRJ-200.

I love the 328Jets. I also like CO's 145s but I thought the 328Jet had as much as if not more headroom than the 145. I haven't flow the CRJ though

Nice little jet. From what I read it is basically a 328 with props replaced by jets and better flaps???
