Where Are The Airplanes?

Tue Jan 15, 2002 2:12 am

Hello,
I am new to the forum and need some information.......
Does anyone know what types of planes regullary land at CLT (Charlotte Douglas NC USA)
I also want to know if the viewing area is open now?
I know that it was and then I went there on 9-13-01 and it was closed........... Also does anyone by chance fly a CRJ-600 or a DC-9 for Northwest Airlines NWA.

Airdisaster has a little introduce yourself to the forum thing but I dont know about this website.
Anyways, both of my parents are in the airlines industry (pilots/fa),my brother is a military pilot and I was invlovled in a crash back in 1994.
However I still love airplanes and hope to one day be a pilot. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CLT reguraly gets all US Airways. This includes narrowbodies (737, A319, A320, A321) and heavies (A330). Also, I am not sure, but BA flies 772s there. Has that route been discontinued, it was LGW-CLT. I frequent the AUS-MSP route on the DC-9, but don't know any pilots. And, I have been on an ASA CRJ-600. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, and Welcome To The Forums!  Big thumbs up Big thumbs up Big thumbs up

Anyways yeah I know CLT is USAIRWAYS hub city.
What other planes fly in? I could ask my parents but they are out on trips  Sad
I wish I could jumpseat with them over the atlantic that would be awesome.
Anyways I know not any 747's what about 757's? Also does anyone know when these planes come in?
767? 777? A-330? A-340? 727? What about the viewing area?
It has been a while since I have been to the airport.

I don't think that many would come there. As I heard no 747s fly there.

Please don't reply to your own post just to get it back to the top. People will reply if they can.

There is a daily British Airways 763 that connects through BWI. I'm not exactly sure what time it arrives at CLT but I know its sometime in the mid-afternoon. The link to the airport website is http://www.charlotteairport.com/

US Airways operates their entire fleet from CLT, so if it is their inventory, then you will find it at CLT.

Delta operates MD-88's
American operates MD-81/82's
Continental MD-80's series
Northwest oprerates DC-9's
United operats 737's

Air Canada operates CRJ's

I flew CLT-LGW aboard British Airway's 772 a couple of summers ago, but since their downsizing, this plane has been converted to a 763.

These listings may not be current, as the last time I was there was in June 2000.

I hope this helps you, and once again, welcome to airliners.net
