Midway Expands To Reagan

Tue Jan 15, 2002 12:50 pm

Geez, one month and Midway is expanding.

Adding service from RDU to Reagan National Airport.

Not only does RDU get US Air service to Reagan first, but Midway also starts there before Greensboro is allowed.

OK, I should not post when I am tired  Smile

Jan 31 Midway is expanding after a little over a month of service sicne they shut down. They will be adding 2 flights a day from RDU to Reagan National in DC. They will be adding this service a week after US Air resumes service to Reagan, so, on yet another route, Midway is competing directly against a cartel airline.

It's all on www.midwayair.com.

And about Greensboro, I was merely complaining, because we haven't gotten our Reagan nat. airport flights back yet.

I am surprised Midway is expanding so fast again myself. Here was what I wrote about the situation over at RDU from earlier this week.

Don't worry about GSO, they will get their service to DCA restored eventually.

Sorry guys, I really hate Midway Airlines. Two good friends were CRJ Pilots for them who are now still out of work. Midway apparently handled its employees really well up until about Auguest.

I can't believe the approac Midway is taking with already expanding to more flights and a new route. Does anyone know if they are making a profit. Saying load factors of 85% is great, but what did they expect? With tickets being $50 per leg, how can the plane not be full. That is cheaper than driving and riding Amtrak to any of those destinations.

But we all know that load factors do not mean profits (GSO->CLE was always booked solid, but Continental never made a dime and stopped the route).

We'll see what happens. But the more I see Midway and what happened to CO Lite, I wonder how Fergusen has a job.
