Emirates' Non-stop Flights To Perth From August

Emirates' non-stop flights to Perth from August

Emirates will take off for the first time from Dubai to Perth on August 2 - marking the first ever non-stop link between the Gulf and Australia.

Flights to Perth, which will be Emirates' third destination in Australia after Melbourne and Sydney, will depart Dubai every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Flight number EK420 Dubai-Perth will be operated with a Boeing 777-200 and flying time will be 10 hours and 50 minutes. The new destination means that Emirates will have 15 flights from Dubai to Australia each week.

Presently, the airline has no immediate plans start non-stop flights to Melbourne and Sydney because it does not have an aircraft to fly those distances, said a spokesperson.

While the airline would like to have more destinations in Australia, no other major cities have been earmarked yet.

Both Emirates and the Western Australia Government are confident that the new service will boost leisure, travel and trade links between the Gulf and Western Australia and provide improved access between Perth and key European destinations.

Services to Perth will open up the large Western Australian agricultural market to Gulf customers, and manufactured goods are expected to account for most imports.

Each Emirates flight, from all of its 14 European destinations, arrives in Dubai with a convenient connection time for the Perth service.

Flights from seven European cities offer a connection time of under two hours.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation and chairman of Emirates, said he was delighted to see this development come to fruition.

"Emirates has played a major role in the dramatic growth of trade and leisure travel links between the Gulf and Australia," said Sheikh Ahmed. "I am delighted to see these developments continue.

"These new flights will benefit passengers in three regions - the Middle East, Australia and Europe - by providing a non-stop service between the Dubai and Australia and a fast, one-stop service between Australia and Europe."

The EK420 flight will have 18 first class, 49 business class, and 236 economy class sets.

Flights will depart Dubai every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 2.35am, arriving in Perth at 5.25pm. The return flight, EK421, will operate on the same days departing Perth at 10.30pm and arriving in Dubai at 5.40am the following morning.

Yes this info has been on Emirates online schedule for a few weeks now even though the local press here in Perth have been talking about an October start.

What is not mentioned in the above press release is that the Western Australian state government is subsidising the airline some $Ms Australian over the next 3 years to "overcome reduced payload losses because of the distance". Of course no-one would dare call it an "incentive", much less a bribe.

But, what the hay - at least they're coming and I can't wait to see their introductory fare offerings.

Hmmmmm, I thought this was going to happen 2 years ago!

Ohwell, good news. Still wont beleive it till the plane lands and taxis in though.

If they are contemplating more Australian destinations, they could operate another destination through perth, that way they could compensate possible low loads.

Or even, codeshare from perth to adelaide or something, that way they can make money on that service and also get more people on the perth-dubai service.

endless possibilities!
look forward to seeing them here!

TAA-Airbus,
they could operate another destination through perth, that way they could compensate possible low loads.
This is the big issue - as I understand it PER-DXB is pushing the envelop for a B777-200 hence the subsidy from the WA govt to compensate for lost payload, so loads ex PER would have to be very light indeed to require another Oz port to feed into PER-DXB.

However, another 1000+ seats/week to ME & Europe will no doubt put pressure on SQ/QF/TG/MH/BI to respond with, hopefully, a fare war and not reduced capacity.
We will see!

cheers

10 hours? Doesn't sound that strenuous for a 777. SQ fly the 777 to Munich and that's a lot more than 10 hours. If Boeing are going on about how the 777 can fly further than any other airliner, how could Emirates possibly have a payload penalty going to Perth? Perhaps I'm thinking of the 777ER or LR but even so, Dubai-Perth is less than Europe to the west coast of the US which AA and UA do routinely with 777s. Hmmm.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Cool One stop to Europe. But I still have to make two stops to go to Amsterdam.

Does any one know if they are going to install full size sleeperbeds in their First Class Cabine.

I visited their training facilities in Dubai two years ago and also had the change to fly in their Flight Simulator.

The service was perfect ( much better than SQ and CX ) and their trainings where very hard. The only thing I found bad where their Seat in the FC. So If anyone can help me ?
